STEM Outreach
Coming from an academic background in elementary and high school that did not support career advancement towards STEM fields, I am a passionate advocate for STEM education and outreach. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn about and explore the fascinating world of science, technology, engineering, and math, and I enjoy finding ways to share my love for these subjects with others. I am always looking for new and exciting ways to get involved in STEM outreach, and I am committed to helping inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to get involved in a variety of STEM outreach activities. Some examples are included below.
Millennium Space Systems x UCLA Bruin Spacecraft Group Career Panel
In February of 2024, I had the privilege of sitting on a Q&A Panel for the UCLA Bruin Spacecraft Group to ask questions about my role as an ATLO Engineer and share my experiences at UCLA that helped lead me to this position. This was a very heartwarming experience, as I was in their shoes just a year ago at the time of the panel. I resonated with them on their worries and fears about their preparation in entering the work force and consoled them with sharing my experience while also imparting advice on what they could better do to prepare. I’m looking forward to engaging in more outreach and panels such as this one where I can offer any advice I can to STEM students, especially those looking to pivot from a different STEM field to another as I did.
EXPLORING YOUR UNIVERSE 2022: Exploring Jupiter and Europa with the NASA Juno Mission and the Europa Clipper
In November 2022, I had the opportunity to represent the UCLA Space Magnetism Laboratory and present their innovative fluxgate magnetometers at UCLA's 14th Annual Exploring Your Universe (EYU) event. I shared with attendees of all ages an explanation of how magnetospheres and magnetometers work, using hands-on demonstrations with iron filings, magnet probes, and a replica of our fluxgate magnetometer. I also assisted in creating two posters highlighting our laboratory's contributions to the NASA Juno Mission and Europa Clipper Mission, as well as the history of our research and development of fluxgate magnetometers. The two posters are displayed below.

LEAP 11.0 Annual Conference: Inherit & Elevate
The LEAP (Leadership, Excellence, Aspiration, Platform) Career Development Forum is a nonprofit based in Los Angeles that aims to provide reliable and long-term resources for young Asian Americans and those from Asian countries studying or working in the United States to enhance their professional growth and career advancement in STEM and related fields. Their annual conference, held on November 12, 2022, consists of workshops, career panels, networking opportunities, and mentors to help attendees gain advice and confidence in obtaining their career goals. I volunteered my time to LEAP as a photographer, videographer, and editor, where I produced videos in promotion of their annual conference and took photos and videos at the event. The promotional video I created as well as some photos from the event are presented below.
